Road and Traffic Updates

Burke Shire Council updates the road report frequently during the wet season and on a “as needs basis” during the dry season. Even if you've driven on a road hundreds of times, road conditions can change quickly in the Gulf. Burke Shire also has a Flood Cameras network to help you plan your trip. 

• Check out information regarding closed road or road works at qldtraffic.qld.gov.au.   

• If you’re driving through to the Northern Territory then visit Road Reports NT to see closure in that State. 

• Before adventuring onto the Gulf roads you should obtain a weather report as a little rain can have a major impact on some of our roads.  

• Remember with any water courses – if it's flooded forget it!
