The heart of the Gulf

Explore the rugged and remote outback of Australia in Burke Shire. Tucked away in the North West corner of Queensland, Burke Shire might be small in population, but it is home to many naturally beautiful and historically significant sites. Catch a barra out of one of the three mighty rivers that flow through Burke; take a hot air balloon flight over Australia’s largest saltpan; go bird watching at the Burketown Hot Water Bore; or just enjoy the tranquility and serenity of the Australian outback - there’s something to do for everyone in Burke.

The Burke Shire region is larger than the size of Belgium.
